Video: Kano innovator develops eyeglasses to alert drowsy drivers, inspired by tragic accident

Bashir Ahmad, former presidential aide to former President Muhammad Buhari, has brought attention to a remarkable invention from Kano state—special eyeglasses designed to warn drivers when they are about to fall asleep behind the wheel.

Sharing a video of the device in action, Ahmad highlighted the inventor’s motivation, saying, “This young innovator from my state, Kano, has invented special eyeglasses that alert drivers when they are about to doze off behind the wheel.”

The inventor revealed that his creation was inspired by a heartbreaking event earlier this year.

“His inspiration came after a tragic road accident early this year that claimed the lives of several young athletes from Kano, which was reportedly caused by the driver falling asleep while driving,” Ahmad explained.

This innovation promises a new layer of safety for drivers and could significantly reduce the number of fatigue-related road accidents in the region.
