A defiant quote from Iranian official, Ali Larijani has gone viral hours after Iran confirmed his death in an Israeli airstrike, underscoring the regime’s narrative of resilience amid escalating conflict.

“With these martyrdoms, the revolution becomes stronger. Kill us—our nation becomes more awake,” Larijani said, attributing the words to former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The statement, posted on social media, gained renewed attention following the airstrike that targeted Larijani and his bodyguards.

Larijani, a veteran politician and close advisor to Supreme Leader Khamenei, served as speaker of Iran’s parliament from 2008 to 2020.

Iranian state media described him as a “security chief” in one of the rare direct assassinations of a top regime figure.

The strike has sparked Iranian retaliatory missile attacks on U.S. and Israeli assets in the Gulf, heightening regional tensions.

U.S. President Trump criticised allied responses, calling them “weak and ineffective” in a statement from the White House.
