Officials report that waste evacuation efforts are currently in progress, with a minimum of 10 individuals arrested for various environmental offenses, including unauthorized dumping and vandalism of public areas.
This information was shared in a statement on the X (formerly Twitter) platform by Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos Commissioner for the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, on Monday.
The statement says, “Our joint enforcement teams from KAI and LAWMA commenced clearance operations along Ojo–Alaba Road and the Badagry Expressway. Waste evacuation is actively ongoing, and 10 arrests have been made so far for environmental violations.
“Let it be known: dumping waste indiscriminately, defacing our environment, and ignoring the state’s sanitation laws will not be tolerated. Enforcement is in full swing, and we will continue until compliance becomes culture.
“Let’s keep Lagos clean, together!”
