Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has announced a swift enforcement operation on Thursday targeting illegal occupants under and on the Abule Ado Pedestrian Bridge.

Acting on intelligence from a circulating video, Wahab’s team arrested more than 50 “miscreants” who had turned the public infrastructure into makeshift shelters.

The move aims to curb crime and restore safe access for commuters.

In a post on X accompanied by video footage, Wahab stated,“Earlier today, following intelligence from a circulating video, our enforcement team carried out a clearance operation on and beneath the Abule Ado Pedestrian Bridge. During the operation, over 50 miscreants who had taken up residence on the pedestrian bridge were arrested.”

He emphasised the operation’s goal, “The exercise was necessary to restore safety, prevent criminal activities and ensure that pedestrian infrastructure meant for public use is not converted into makeshift shelters or illegal settlements.”

Wahab pledged ongoing efforts, adding, “We will continue to secure pedestrian bridges and other public infrastructure across the State to guarantee safety for residents and commuters.”

The initiative aligns with broader #CleanerLagos and #GreaterLagos campaigns.
