The operation specifically targeted unlawful trading activities occurring on the road median between Iyana-Iba and Okokomaiko, an area known for heavy traffic congestion and environmental infringements.
As a result of the raid, 35 individuals were apprehended and are anticipated to be prosecuted under the state’s environmental and public safety laws.
This information was shared in a brief statement on social media by Muyiwa Gbadegesin, the Managing Director of the Lagos Waste Management Authority, on Saturday.
The statement reads, “A combined task force of #LAGESCOfficial, #Lawma_gov and OP MESA conducted raids on illegal traders on the median of Lagos-Badagry Expressway from Iyana-Iba to Okokomaiko.
“The team arrested 35 offenders who will be duly prosecuted. Waste clearance operations continue.”
