The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokubo Wahab, disclosed in a statement on X that the operation started at approximately 1:30 a.m. and targeted multiple hotspots known for criminal activities.

The Commissioner stated, “In continuation of the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce clean up enforcement operation to rid the State of criminal elements, the Agency set out at about 0130hrs on Wednesday, 20th August, 2025 and embarked on its ongoing clean up enforcement operation at Agidigbi area and Ikeja GRA in Lagos.”

Key locations visited include Alausa CBD, NERDC Road, Alhaja Ashabi Cole Street, the frontage of African Shrine in Agidigbi, Adekunle Fajuyi Way, Shobo Arobiodu, Isaac John Street, Oba Akinjobi Road in GRA Ikeja, and surrounding streets where the presence of “some undesirable elements was noticed.”

The operation resulted in the arrest of 32 suspects—25 males and 7 females—found in possession of hard and illicit drugs, including substances suspected to be Indian hemp, codeine, and other narcotics. The Commissioner affirmed that “sanity was restored in all the areas” following the raid.

All suspects apprehended during the crackdown will face legal action as the state continues its fierce stance against crime, underscored by the campaign hashtag: #ZeroToleranceLagos.
