The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, has announced a decisive enforcement operation targeting illegal street traders on Bishop Oluwole Street, Victoria Island.
In a statement posted on X, on Monday Wahab said, “Our enforcement teams have just completed a successful dislodgement operation against illegal street traders on Bishop Oluwole Street in Victoria Island.”
This move forms part of the government’s broader initiative to “restore order, ensure free vehicular and pedestrian movement, and maintain the aesthetic and environmental standards of our city.”
He further urged traders to comply with regulations, warning, “We urge all traders to relocate to approved markets and commercial zones. Continuous violation will attract stricter sanctions.”
Emphasising the government’s firm stance, Wahab concluded with the hashtag, #ZeroToleranceLagos.
