Their illegal actions were reported by an observant local resident, who quickly notified enforcement agents, leading to their immediate arrest. In a statement shared on the X [formerly Twitter] account of Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos Commissioner for the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, it was announced that the suspects would be promptly prosecuted in line with the state’s environmental regulations. The statement reads, “Simeon David Akpata – 22yrs and Miss Oluwamotemi Otunba – 28yrs were found dumping refuse along Ebute- Ipakodo Road earlier today by a concerned Lagosian who accosted and ensured that they were arrested by our enforcement agents. “They will be tried immediately in accordance with the relevant laws of the state. “While we appreciate the effort of this concerned Lagosian, we reiterate that a Cleaner Lagos is a collective responsibility of everyone. Keep your environment clean and stop the indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the drainages.” Follow us for more updates
