Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab in a statement on Tuesday emphasised the importance of these actions, stating, “These illegal constructions obstruct the free flow of stormwater, worsen flooding, and endanger lives and property.”

Wahab urged residents to support government initiatives, saying, “We urge residents to desist from building on drainage alignments and to always support government’s efforts to safeguard our environment.”

The move aims to enhance flood prevention and improve the city’s resilience, with Wahab adding, “Protecting our drainage infrastructure is key to achieving a flood-free and resilient Lagos.”
