Video: Lagos enforces single-use plastic ban with immediate action at Justrite supermarket

The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced that enforcement teams are actively inspecting Justrite Supermarket in Lekki to ensure adherence to the state’s ban on single-use plastics.

The Commissioner emphasised on X, “Our enforcement team is currently at Justrite Supermarket in Lekki, ensuring strict compliance with the state’s ban on single-use plastics.”

This intervention comes after a period of extensive advocacy and a moratorium designed to provide businesses ample time to transition to eco-friendly alternatives.

“All prohibited materials have been confiscated, and the management has been directed to adopt sustainable packaging immediately,” the statement continued, underscoring the government’s commitment to environmental protection.

The Commissioner further affirmed the stance with a resolute declaration: “#ZeroToleranceLagos”.
