This was disclosed via a post shared on X (formally Twitter) on Saturday by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.

This action is part of Lagos State’s broader commitment to flood control, including cooperation with Ogun-Oshun River Basin Authority to manage water release from Oyan Dam and prevent downstream flooding.

Wahab wrote, “Following the expiration of served notices, operatives from Drainage Enforcement and Compliance Department of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources on Friday commenced the removal of contravening structures within Megamond Estate and Oral Estate along Ikota River alignment, Eti-osa, to prevent perennial flooding in the area.”

However, residents are urged to report drainage blockages and illegal dumping to local authorities to sustain the effectiveness of flood prevention measures.
