The committee, led by Chairperson Saheed Fijabi, will oversee the coordination and execution of events marking this significant milestone.
At the inauguration ceremony, Makinde praised the appointees, urging them to approach their responsibilities with dedication, innovation, and patriotism. He stressed that their efforts will be pivotal in defining how Oyo State’s 50 years will be commemorated and remembered.
He said, “Dedication and patriotism are valuable gifts to our beloved state at this turning point.
“May you steer this journey with creativity, inclusiveness, and excellence.”
He added that the anniversary provides an opportunity not only to celebrate Oyo State’s achievements but also to strengthen infrastructure, promote unity, enhance education, and unlock the state’s full potential.
Makinde also called on citizens at home and abroad to support the committee’s work, assuring that the celebrations would reflect pride and purpose.
“With God’s guidance, and with the support of every Oyo son and daughter, we will deliver a commemorative year of pride and purpose. The task is large, but so is our will,” he said.
The inauguration officially starts preparations for what is expected to be a year-long celebration of Oyo State’s growth, resilience, and progress since its creation in 1976.
