Video: Massive explosions rock Damascus as Israeli airstrikes target Syria’s defence ministry

A series of powerful explosions shook the Syrian capital on Wednesday afternoon after Israeli forces carried out airstrikes on the Syrian Defence Ministry in the heart of Damascus.

Footage broadcast by Al Jazeera captured the dramatic moment when the ministry building was hit, sending plumes of smoke into the sky and forcing journalists and bystanders to seek cover.

According to reports from Syrian state media and international sources, Israeli missiles struck the entrance of the military headquarters, resulting in injuries and prompting emergency response teams to rush casualties from the scene.

Israel’s Defense Minister declared that these “painful blows” were meant to send a clear message to Damascus to halt assaults on minorities and enforce the withdrawal of troops from contested regions.
