During the inauguration, Pate stated that this initiative marks a significant achievement in the federal government’s dedication to improving healthcare infrastructure and fulfilling commitments outlined in the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He said, “We are expanding diagnostic centres. Almost 350,000 diagnostics should be able to be provided in this country once the centres are completed, so we can detect cancers early and make them much more treatable. If cancer is detected late, then even with treatment, it may be too late to benefit from it. This is a promise, and a promise delivered.

He praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritising healthcare, noting, “His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was deliberate in choosing health as one of the sectors to transform under his agenda, and I believe he has delivered on that.”

The diagnostics expansion is aimed at improving early detection, increasing survival rates, and ensuring that access to essential services is no longer limited to select regions.
