Modi and Putin shared a warm hug and handshake before their bilateral meeting, with Modi describing their encounter as “always a delight”.
A post shared on Modi’s X handle, on Monday, noted that the two leaders discussed the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with Modi emphasising the need for a peaceful resolution and expressing support for recent initiatives aimed at addressing the crisis. Putin blamed the West for triggering the crisis.
He wrote, “Had an excellent meeting with President Putin on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Tianjin. Discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in all sectors, including trade, fertilisers, space, security, and culture.
“We exchanged views on regional and global developments, including the peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine. Our Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership remains a vital pillar of regional and global stability.”
