A series of car accidents resulted in gridlock on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Friday morning.

The accidents occurred on Kara Bridge towards OPIC, causing heavy traffic that extended all the way to Otedola Bridge.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the accidents in a statement on their official social media page and sent emergency response teams to the scene.

LASTMA states, “An accident involving multiple vehicles was recorded on Kara Bridge, inward OPIC.

“Our personnel, along with other emergency responders, are currently on ground to rescue victims and clear the wreckage.”

However, LASTMA later reported that all the vehicles involved had been successfully removed from the scene and the partially closed road was now fully open for use noting that officers are still working to clear the backlog of traffic and ensure smooth flow in the area.
