Four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka comfortably defeated Wakana Sonobe in straight sets during the first round of the Kinoshita Group Japan Open, taking place in her hometown of Osaka.

Osaka showcased a strong performance, striking 10 winners and securing three breaks of serve in the first set, ultimately concluding the match with a forehand winner after a challenging second set.
She is currently the only Japanese player to advance past the initial round, as six others exited early. In the next round, Osaka will compete against defending champion Suzan Lamens.
