Video: NDLEA seizes over 7.6 million tramadol pills, 76 tons of cannabis

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced a major breakthrough in its fight against drug trafficking, recovering more than 7.6 million tramadol pills and 76,273.4 kilograms of various cannabis strains, including Colorado, Loud, and Skunk, across multiple states.

Femi Babafemi, NDLEA Director of Media & Advocacy, revealed the scale of the operations in a Sunday statement, “Operatives have recovered not less than 3,874,000 pills of tramadol 225mg and 100mg, and 252.2 litres of codeine syrup from a warehouse at Oko market, Asaba, Delta state.”

Significant seizures occurred on December 1st and 2nd in Adamawa and Ekiti states, where NDLEA intercepted vehicles and raided forests yielding millions of tramadol capsules and tens of thousands of kilograms of skunk cannabis. Several suspects including Kabiru Buba, Hamza Abubakar, Yusuf Iliyasu, and Okumu Chinedu have been arrested following these raids.

Further seizures included 500 kg of skunk cannabis from Niger state, synthetic cannabis weighing 22 kg in Abuja, and numerous arrests linked to drug trafficking operations in Lagos and Edo states.

Chairman of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers for their “operational successes” and praised their balanced efforts in both drug supply and demand reduction nationwide.

The agency also continued extensive War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) outreach programs, educating students and communities in various states on the dangers of drug abuse.
