The agency’s spokesman, Femi Babafemi, cautioned the public in a statement on Sunday, noted that recent operations at Lagos airports and borders have led to the interception of cocaine bound for the United Kingdom and Saudi Arabia concealed in cosmetics and legal documents, as well as 7,660 tramadol pills hidden in food items destined for Italy.

Additionally, counterfeit travellers’ cheques were found concealed in children’s books headed for Malaysia.

The NDLEA’s intensified crackdown reflects a strategic effort to dismantle drug cartels operating through increasingly sophisticated and inventive concealment methods.

The statement reads, “Narco-trend update: As @ndlea_nigeria continues to tighten the noose on Drug Trafficking Organisations (DTOs), they’re turning to virtually everything in sight, no matter how tiny, to use to conceal drugs for trafficking.

“That’s why no matter the temptation or plea, never accept to help anyone to take any item or luggage on your trip including property title documents or children’s books as the latest seizures by #NDLEA officers reveal yet another level of desperation. Please take a look at the attached videos and share them with others to learn. More shocking details in our statement at noon, plus,” the remark stated.
