The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has exposed a new and highly ingenious method used by drug traffickers to transport illicit substances across Nigeria.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday, the discovery was made during a special operation in Bode Saadu, Kwara State, where thousands of opioid pills were found hidden inside 50-litre water heater tanks.
Babafemi described the concealment as daring and sophisticated, noting that it was uncovered due to the professionalism and intelligence-led operations of NDLEA officers.
He stated, “But for the diligence of our officers, who could have imagined that water heater tanks would be converted into channels for trafficking illicit drugs?”
He added, “Take a look at this video and see how thousands of opioid pills were concealed inside a 50-litre water heater tank during the operation in Kwara State.”
The agency reiterated its commitment to dismantling innovative smuggling networks and ensuring that Nigeria remains unsafe for drug traffickers.
