Speaking at the special FEC session held in honour of the late leader, President Tinubu reflected on Buhari’s enduring influence and the national grief felt across the country.
“Today, we gather under a heavy shadow, drawn close by the silence surrounding a departed leader,” Tinubu remarked.
“The absence will be felt for generations. We meet to honour a man whose presence once commanded this room.”
Recalling Buhari’s widely known reputation for integrity, Tinubu addressed the late leader by his popular titles.
“Mai Gaskiya, The People’s General, the former President—your duty is done,” he added.
He further extended prayers and well-wishes in accordance with Islamic tradition.
“May Almighty Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus. May his life continue to inspire generations of Nigerians to serve with courage, conviction, and selflessness,” he prayed.
Concluding his tribute, Tinubu captured the mood of a nation in mourning noting, “President Buhari, thank you. Nigeria will remember you.”
