Despite her international recognition, she warned that the regime could still target her.
“I do think it increases the cost of the regime to further harm me,” Machado said, acknowledging that the Nobel Prize may act as a deterrent.
However, when asked if the government would still dare to harm her, she responded bluntly, “Oh yes, I do. They would do anything to stay in power.”
Machado dedicated her Nobel Peace Prize to the Venezuelan people and praised U.S. President Donald Trump, stating, “I absolutely think he deserves a Nobel Peace Prize,” for his support of Venezuela’s pro-democracy movement and his foreign policy stance.
She further endorsed possible American military intervention, labeling the Maduro government “a real threat” to regional stability.
Despite the dangers, Machado remained resolute, “As we speak, the Venezuelan people are organizing—underground, under huge threat—but growing in hope and determination. Venezuela will be free.”
