At the glamorous 2025 GQ Türkiye Men of the Year Awards held in Istanbul on December 10, Nigerian football star Victor Osimhen was crowned Sportsman of the Year, capping off a remarkable season with Galatasaray.
Delivering a heartfelt acceptance speech, Osimhen expressed profound gratitude saying, “I want to say a big thank you to GQ. Can’t forget my Galatasaray family. This means so much to me and my family.”
The 26-year-old striker’s exceptional performance throughout the 2024-2025 season—scoring 37 goals and providing 7 assists in 41 appearances—helped Galatasaray win both the Süper Lig title and the Turkish Cup.
Osimhen emphasised the support he’s received, “I appreciate everyone that supported me up to this hour. Thank you for your support. I will continue to do my best… for my family, for Galatasaray, and for everything.”
Celebrated not only for his on-field achievements but also as a role model and ambassador for African talent in global football, Osimhen’s recognition at this prestigious black-tie event highlights his growing influence far beyond the sport.
