Dailyeconomy reported that on April 23, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and several high-ranking PDP members announced their defection to the APC.
The defection ceremony, held in Asaba, the state capital, was attended by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, and other party leaders who welcomed the new members into the ruling party.
Keyamo in an interview with Channels TV described the development as a significant political shift, noting that Delta State has historically played a key role in financing and supporting the PDP.
He said the Governor’s move to the APC marks a major victory for the ruling party and strengthens its position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said, “The PDP knows that they have lost something like their soul. Delta was like the soul of the PDP. Delta was one of the major funders of the PDP; they have lost it.
“This is one of the major boosts for the APC ahead of 2027, and even beyond, in terms of the growth and development of the party. So, it’s a major political seismic activity that took place today.”
