A 19-year-old driver, Nsikak Okon, faces charges after a shocking high-speed chase that injured three police officers, culminating in his arrest with illicit drugs in his possession, authorities confirmed Friday.

The dramatic incident, captured in a viral video, unfolded when Okon barreled through a police checkpoint in a heavily tinted vehicle lacking license plates.
Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer CSP Benjamin Hundeyin recounted the sequence on his official X account, highlighting the driver’s deliberate aggression.
“You were driving a fully and heavily tinted vehicle without number plates. You met police officers on the road and sped past in a very reckless manner,” Hundeyin wrote.
He detailed the escalation, “On your way back, you sped past again, nearly knocking down an officer. And in what appears to be very deliberate, you came back again with the same reckless speed, this time successfully knocking down three officers.”
Officers pursued and apprehended Okon shortly after, discovering illicit drugs during the search.
The injured officers are receiving medical attention, with investigations ongoing into the driver’s motives and the substances involved.
Police emphasised stricter enforcement against unlicensed, tinted vehicles amid rising road safety concerns.
