Speaking at a meeting on the development of autonomous systems, Putin emphasised the unique skills gained by veterans of the “special military operation,” particularly combat drone pilots. He directed the government, in partnership with the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, to create new opportunities for these “heroes” in the design, production, and operation of drones. “Besides, I propose that the experience, knowledge, and skills received during combat give our heroes—including combat drone pilots who have successfully destroyed enemy targets and continue to do so—an advantage,” Putin stated. “These must be in demand in peacetime as well. They must be at the forefront of technological progress.” Putin stressed the need for swift action, instructing officials to “eliminate persistent administrative barriers and clearly outdated regulatory requirements” alongside the defense sector.
