The Olubadan-in-Council has proposed former Oyo State Governor, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

This nomination was put forth by Balogun Olubadan, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola, and supported by Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole, during a meeting at the Olubadan’s Oke-Aremo palace.

Oba Ajibola confirmed that the entire council has supported Ladoja’s nomination.

He mentioned that the next step would be to send Ladoja’s name to Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for formal approval and to arrange the coronation ceremony, where he will be presented with the Staff and Certificate of Office.

This nomination follows the end of the 21-day mourning period for the late Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died on July 7, 2025, after a year of reign.

Oba Olakulehin had succeeded the 42nd Olubadan, Oba Mohood Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.
