Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov has vowed that Moscow will rally international allies to thwart any US or Israeli military operations against Iran, amid heightened regional tensions.
In a press briefing today, Lavrov emphasised Russia’s commitment to its “strategic partners,” stating, “Russia will do everything to create an atmosphere that will make US and Israel operations against Iran impossible.”
He elaborated on plans to engage global forums, saying, “Strategic partners and we’ll continue to maintain dialogue with these countries. And will do our best, including with other countries of the international community in the United Nations Security Council.
“We’ll do everything to create an atmosphere that will make this operation impossible.”
The remarks come as US-Israeli strikes on Iran intensify since early March 2026 – actions Russia has condemned as “aggression undermining global stability and incentivising nuclear proliferation.”
