The president was accompanied to the Murtala Mohammed International Airport by Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos state, on Tuesday afternoon.
On May 31, Tinubu snubbed Sanwo-Olu during the inauguration of the completed phase 1, section 1 of the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway.
The President after then publicly declared that he has forgiven Sanwo-Olu, ending their previously strained relationship.
The reconciliation followed a meeting with the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council, where Tinubu stated, “It’s all over now. All is forgiven,” and Sanwo-Olu, along with others, prostrated before the President in a show of remorse and appeasement.
In a visible sign of restored goodwill, Governor Sanwo-Olu accompanied President Tinubu to the airport as he departed Lagos for Abuja after the Eid holidays.
This marked a significant shift from earlier tensions during Tinubu’s visit to Lagos, where the two leaders had been notably distant.
The move signals a mending of fences after reports of a political rift that had caused concern within the All Progressives Congress and Lagos political circles
