Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has disclosed that three new train sets have arrived for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line.

These newly delivered trains are anticipated to enhance the operational capacity of the Blue Line, particularly in advance of the project’s second phase, which will extend the rail corridor from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko.

This extension is expected to be completed by 2026.

The announcement was made in a post on the X (formerly Twitter) account of Sanwo-Olu’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Jubril Gawat, on Thursday, June 5.

Gawat stated, “Governor of Lagos State, Mr #jidesanwoolu has confirmed the arrival of three brand new train sets for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line.

“The arrival of these three sets of trains will enhance performance of the 2nd phase of the ongoing Blue Line Rail infrastructure which will extend from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko, scheduled to be completed in 2026.”
