In a vibrant culmination of the ongoing Eyo Festival on Lagos Island, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has installed Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, as the Okanlòmo of Eyo (Laba Ekun).

The ceremony unfolded amid the rhythmic beats of traditional drums and the iconic white-clad masquerades, drawing cheers from a sea of spectators.

Dressed in resplendent traditional attire, Sanwo-Olu personally crowned Seyi Tinubu during the festival’s peak moments.

The governor led prayers for Tinubu and his wife, invoking blessings for prosperity, protection, and continued service to the Yoruba people.

“This honor recognizes your commitment to our cultural heritage and community upliftment,” Sanwo-Olu declared, as the crowd erupted in applause.

This latest accolade follows closely on the heels of a similar prestigious title bestowed upon Seyi Tinubu by the Alaafin of Oyo.

Just weeks ago, in Oyo, the revered monarch crowned him Okanlòmo of Yorubaland, highlighting Tinubu’s growing stature as a cultural ambassador and philanthropist.

The Eyo Festival, known as the “Picture Bride” for its ghostly white processions, serves as a poignant backdrop for such installations, blending spirituality, history, and pageantry.
