The 26-year-old has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract that will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2031, making him City’s first major signing of the January transfer window.

Semenyo enjoyed an impressive Premier League campaign with Bournemouth, scoring 10 goals this season, performances that attracted interest from several top clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham.

The agreement is understood to include an initial £62.5 million fee payable in instalments, with additional performance-related add-ons.

The transfer represents a club-record sale for Bournemouth.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is said to value Semenyo’s pace, work rate and pressing ability, qualities seen as a strong fit for City’s attacking system.

Semenyo could be in line for his debut when City face Exeter City in the FA Cup this weekend as the champions look to maintain momentum across competitions.

Pep Guardiola reportedly covets Semenyo’s blistering pace, relentless work rate, and high-pressing style, which align perfectly with City’s fluid attacking blueprint.

The deal breaks Bournemouth’s transfer record, with an initial £62.5 million paid in installments plus performance add-ons.

Fans could catch Semenyo’s Etihad bow as early as this weekend’s FA Cup clash against Exeter City, as City chase silverware on all fronts.
