This visit occurs a day after the former President’s burial in his hometown.

Shettima is joined by Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Governor of Borno State, and Dikko Umar Radda, the Governor of Katsina State, along with several ministers and other attendees mourning his loss.

The delegation is in Daura for initial prayers after the burial, with the main “third-day prayer” (Fidda’u prayer), an important Islamic tradition for the deceased, set to be held tomorrow, Thursday, July 17, 2025.

Vice President Shettima is expected to lead other mourners in these prayers at the residence of the late former President.

Buhari passed away on Sunday, July 13, in London and was buried in Daura, Katsina State, on Tuesday, July 15, after being brought back from London, Dailyeconomy reports.
