While tensions escalated, a Nigerian Police officer quietly spoke in Hausa to a Nigerian Army colleague in an attempt to calm the situation.
Sowore shared, “The most important revelation from the dirty clash between @GovWike and the @NigerianNavy over a parcel of land is not the shouting match itself, but the moment a Nigerian Police officer, sensing that things were about to turn violent, quietly spoke in Hausa to his colleague from the Nigerian Army @HQNigerianArmy in an attempt to de-escalate the situation, HE WARNED THAT THIS NOT OUR FIGHT, BUT A FIGHT BETWEEN BIG MEN (THIEVES). ”
Sowore emphasised that this incident reflects a deeper problem within Nigeria’s political and security establishments, stating, “It confirms exactly what I said when this incident first surfaced: ‘What we are witnessing is the deep rot of self-interest within the security and political establishment officials who serve a privileged minority instead of protecting the nation.
“Governor Nyesom Wike is not an exception; he is a perfect example of how personal power struggles routinely overshadow the national interest.’”
Adding clarity to the situation, Sowore’s comrade @agbajalingo_ translated the Hausa dialogue to English for wider understanding.
