Students at the Federal Polytechnic in Bauchi staged a protest following a robbery that left at least 10 of them injured. A group of more than 50 armed robbers attacked their on-campus hostels in the early hours of Tuesday, around 2 a.m., brandishing firearms and using machetes against those who resisted.

In response to the assault, the students peacefully blocked the Bauchi–Tafawa Balewa Federal Highway, calling for improved security measures from the school’s administration. The protest halted access for staff and lecturers attempting to enter the campus, and during the demonstration, students voiced concerns to journalists about the inadequate security measures in place.

They highlighted that, despite the presence of internal security personnel, the campus remains vulnerable to outside intruders. Additionally, the students expressed dissatisfaction with living conditions in the hostels, particularly noting the absence of electricity at night, which results in complete darkness in the area.
