Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle sparked controversy after alleging that a member of the DR Congo team used “voodoo” during penalty shootouts, leaving him visibly unsettled.

In an interview, Chelle said, “All penalty season a guy from Congo did some voodoo every time, every time, every time. So this is why I was a little nervous after him.”
When asked what exactly he saw, he replied, “Something like that? You know. I don’t know if it’s a water or something like that, you know.”
The coach’s frustration was evident in the video, where he expressed anger and disbelief at the supposed use of dark magic during such a crucial moment in the game.
Super Eagles’ failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after their loss to DR Congo in the Africa Play-off Final held in Rabat on Sunday night.
The loss marks the second consecutive World Cup miss for Nigeria.
