Citing the “factionalisation of the PDP at the national level,” Bonzena revealed that 15 other PDP members in the state assembly have also defected.
Among those who have submitted letters to join the APC are Deputy Speaker Hamman Adama Abdullai (Bali 2 Constituency), Majority Leader Jethro Yakubu (Wukari 1 Constituency), and other representatives from various constituencies, totaling 16 defectors including the Speaker.
Bonzena emphasised that the defection is “not personal but for the collective interest of the state,” adding, “Our people should not misinterpret this decision of ours. It is for the interest of the state.”
He declared that “We now have all 24 members of the House as APC members.”
The former speaker and current Mbamnga Constituency representative, Peter Diah, welcomed the newcomers to the APC, stating their joining marks “a new dawn for Taraba State and its people” and aligns with the “vision of President Bola Tinubu.”
Dailyeconomy executively gathered that Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas will from PDP join APC on Wednesday, November 19.
