President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced generous rewards for the triumphant members of Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, following their outstanding success.
Each player on the D’Tigress squad will receive $100,000, a brand-new apartment, and the prestigious National Honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
This award symbolises the nation’s deep gratitude for their hard work, dedication, and the honor they have brought to Nigeria on the international stage.
In addition to the players, the coaching staff will also be duly rewarded, with each coach granted $50,000 in acknowledgment of their critical role and invaluable contribution toward the team’s accomplishments.
President Tinubu’s announcement reflects the government’s commitment to encouraging sporting excellence and fostering national pride through significant incentives for athletes and their support teams.
The rewards come as a historic recognition of D’Tigress’s hard-fought achievements and mark a new era of support for women’s sports in Nigeria.
It may be recalled that Tinubu on July 28, conferred the prestigious Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) national honours on the outstanding players and staff of Nigeria’s Super Falcons.
