President Bola Tinubu departed Lagos on Sunday, for Europe as part of his end-of-year break, setting the stage for an official visit to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.

In a statement released Sunday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, the trip precedes Tinubu’s invitation from His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026) Summit in early January.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu departed Lagos on Sunday, December 28, for Europe, continuing his end-of-year break and ahead of his official trip to Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates.”

The weeklong summit, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go”, gathers leaders from government, business, and society to advance sustainable development through innovation, finance, and human-centric action.

“ADSW will connect ambition with action across innovation, finance, and people, showcasing how the world can move forward with confidence,” Onanuga added.

Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria following the event, amid ongoing national focus on economic reforms and global partnerships.
