President Bola Tinubu has emphasised the urgent need to end Nigeria’s prolonged security challenges at the decoration ceremony for newly appointed service chiefs held at the State House, Abuja on Thursday.

In his speech, the President declared, “We cannot allow the crisis that began in 2009 to persist any longer.”

He stressed the evolving nature of security threats, noting the emergence of new armed groups in several regions: “Of grave concern to our administration is the recent emergence of new armed groups in the North-Central, North-West, and parts of the South. We must not allow these new threats to fester. We must be decisive and proactive.”

Acknowledging the sacrifices of the armed forces, President Tinubu said, “I thank our armed forces for their patriotism, diligence, and dedication to their duty.”

He also charged the service chiefs to lead with innovation and courage: “Let’s stay ahead of those who seek to threaten our peace. Let us deploy technology where necessary.”
