United States President Donald Trump has claimed that Iranian officials floated the idea of installing him as their next Supreme Leader during negotiations.

Trump described the overture as evidence of U.S. leverage in the Middle East.

Trump boasted of overwhelming success in the region, adding, “And we’re winning another one, I tell you. We’re winning so big — nobody’s ever seen anything like what we’re doing in the Middle East with Iran, and they are negotiating, by the way.

“They want to make a deal so badly, but they’re afraid to say it because if you get killed by their own people. They’re also afraid that they’ll be killed by us.”

He further portrayed Iranian leaders as reluctant in their top roles, “It has never been a head of the country that wanted that job less than being the head of Iran. Well, listen to some of the things they say — we hear them very clearly. They say, ‘I don’t want it.’ ‘We’d like to make you the next Supreme Leader.’ ‘No thank you, I don’t want it.’”

Iranian military spokesperson, Ebrahim Zolfaghari in a message to President Trump, on. Wednesday rejected claims of negotiation and accusing Washington of self-delusion as Middle East tensions boil over, Dailyeconomy reports.

“Has the level of your own conflicts reached the stage of negotiating with yourselves?” said Zolfaghari, framing any US-proposed outcome as inherent defeat.

“Do not call your defeat an agreement,” he added.
