United States President Donald Trump has categorically denied U.S. involvement in the February 28 airstrike on a girls’ elementary school in Minab, southern Iran, that killed 175 people, instead pointing the finger at Iran itself during a White House briefing.

Responding to a reporter’s question—“Did the United States bomb a girls’ elementary school in southern Iran on the first day of war and kill 175 people?”

Trump stated, “No, based on what I’ve seen. That was done by Iran.”

He then turned to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for confirmation, “Is that true Mr Hegseth? It was Iran who did that?”

Hegseth replied cautiously, “We’re certainly investigating. Still investigating.”

Trump doubled down, asserting, “But the only side that targets civilians is Iran. We think it was done by Iran. Because they’re very inaccurate as you know with their munitions, they have no accuracy whatsoever. It was done by Iran.”

The incident occurred amid escalating U.S.-Israeli operations against Iran, on what has been described as the conflict’s opening day.

However, conflicting reports have emerged: Sources citing U.S. military insiders and satellite imagery suggest the precision strike likely originated from American forces, raising questions about civilian targeting.

The United Nations has called for an impartial international probe, amplifying pressure on the administration as investigations continue.
