President Donald Trump announced that United States forces had launched airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear facilities—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—marking a major escalation in the Middle East conflict and direct U.S. involvement against Iran’s nuclear program.

Speaking in a nationally televised address after the attack on Saturday evening, “Trump declared, “We have successfully executed our attack on the three nuclear facilities in Iran. All aircraft have now exited Iranian airspace.”

He emphasised the scale of the operation stating, “A complete load of bombs was deployed on the primary site, Fordow”.

Trump called the strikes “a spectacular military success” and warned Iran.

“Iran, the bully of the Middle East must now make peace. If they do not, future attacks will be far greater and a lot easier.

“Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity, and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror,” said Trump.

Trump also praised U.S. military forces, saying, “There is not another military in the world that could have accomplished this. Now is the time for peace!” and expressed gratitude to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, highlighting their close cooperation.

However, Iran condemned the strikes as “outrageous” with its foreign minister warning they will have “everlasting consequences,” while Iranian officials claimed the attacks caused “no damage,” asserting nuclear materials had been evacuated in advance.

This marks the first U.S. airstrike on Iranian soil since 1979 and significantly heightens tensions in the region, with fears of further escalation looming.

The war between Iran and Israel began on Friday, June 13, 2025, when Israel launched Operation Rising Lion, targeting over a dozen Iranian nuclear and military sites, killing hundreds including top Iranian military commanders and nuclear scientists.

According to reports, Israel’s strikes destroyed key nuclear facilities such as Natanz and Isfahan, and hit missile bases and military infrastructure across Iran.

However, Iran retaliated with missile attacks on Israeli cities including Tel Aviv and Netanya, causing widespread alarm and prompting evacuation orders in both countries.

The conflict has seen unprecedented air operations, including Israeli strikes as far as Mashhad airport in northeast Iran, and Iran shooting down an Israeli F-35 over Tabriz.

Both sides have issued evacuation orders for civilians near military and nuclear sites, raising fears of further escalation.

Meanwhile, Israel claims to have achieved air supremacy over Tehran and destroyed a significant portion of Iran’s missile launchers.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) vows to continue operations until Israel’s “complete destruction”.
