World-renowned boxer Anthony Joshua escaped with minor injuries after a horrific road accident on the bustling Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday.

The crash, which reportedly claimed two lives on the spot, has sent shockwaves through Nigeria and the global boxing community.

The incident unfolded along the highway near the Danco Filling Station in Makun, just before the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound axis.

Joshua was traveling in a Lexus Jeep bearing the number plate KRD 850 HN when it collided with a stationary truck.

Details surrounding the cause remain under investigation by traffic authorities, who have yet to release an official statement.

An eyewitness at the scene described the chaos vividly.

“It happened so fast—just before the filling station. The Jeep smashed into the truck, and two people died instantly,” a source said.

Emergency responders rushed to the site, where Joshua received immediate medical attention for what eyewitnesses described as minor injuries.

He was reportedly conscious and stable, though no further updates on his condition have been provided.

The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, notorious for frequent accidents due to heavy traffic and poor road conditions, saw partial closure around the area as salvage teams cleared the wreckage.

Joshua, a two-time heavyweight champion with a storied career including victories over Wladimir Klitschko and Andy Ruiz Jr., was in Nigeria for undisclosed reasons ahead of his next bout.

Fans worldwide flooded social media with messages of support, trending #PrayForAJ under the weight of the news.
