Uganda President, Yoweri Museveni has highlighted global power imbalances during a speech in Chankonzi, questioning Uganda’s lack of naval strength amid U.S. space advances.

“As we are speaking now, one of the satellites from the USA is going around the moon. For us who are here in Chankonzi eating macaroni or something like that. This is very dangerous,” Museveni said at the podium.

He criticises Uganda’s landlocked status, “How can Uganda have a navy? We don’t even have any near water.”

Museveni advocated for East African political federation to access ocean resources and security, adding, “The moon is common property for man. But we are just here in Chankonzi dancing up to the moon.”
