United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio has condemned Iran’s regime, calling it a “terrorist government” and detailing ongoing U.S. military efforts to neutralise its capabilities.

“This is a terrorist government. This is a terroristic regime, and we are seeing them conduct terrorism using nation-state elements, using weapons like missiles and one-way attack drones,” Rubio stated.

He added, “The objective of this mission is to destroy their ability to continue to do that. And we are well on our way to achieving that objective every single day with overwhelming force, with overwhelming precision.”

The remarks underscore heightened U.S.-Iran tensions following the 2024 election and reports of intensified American-backed operations against Iranian proxies across the Middle East since early 2026.

Rubio’s hawkish stance aligns with his long-standing advocacy for regime change in Iran and strong support for Israel.
