Russia’s Foreign Ministry has issued a rebuke to Washington, declaring any United States military action against Iran as “categorically unacceptable” amid escalating tensions from Iran’s protests and President Trump’s threats.
The statement accuses the US of “subversive external interference” in Tehran’s internal politics, warning that using unrest as a pretext for strikes—repeating alleged aggression from June 2025—would trigger severe fallout across the Middle East and beyond.
Russia slammed threats of new strikes on Iran as “completely intolerable,” with Moscow urging the US to recognise risks to West Asia and worldwide stability.
The warning follows Trump’s January 13 Truth Social post hinting “help is on its way” to Iranian protesters amid a reported crackdown killing over 2,400, per rights groups.
Russia frames this as destabilising meddling, heightened by its strategic ties with Iran—including military pacts against ISIS, sanction-busting oil deals, and shared interests against US influence.
