He was apprehended on Friday, May 2, shortly after visiting a branch of a new generation bank (GTb) in Abuja.

His arrest sparked widespread outrage across the country, with both fans and celebrities protesting outside EFCC offices to demand his freedom and condemn the agency’s actions.

After spending five days in custody, VeryDarkMan’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, announced that he was released on the evening of Wednesday, Dailyeconomy reports.

In a video posted on his lawyer’s Instagram account following his release, he explained that the EFCC accused him of suspected money laundering.

He refuted these allegations as unfounded, stating that he does not possess the kind of wealth that would justify such claims.

He said, “They think I am into money laundering, how would they put money laundering for person wey no get money? I have done so many charities, and them they wonder how.

“They don’t know that I use debt for charity.”
