Video: Victony opens up about drinking before live performance

Renowned Nigerian singer and songwriter, Anthony Ebuka Victor, known as Victony, has disclosed that he has never taken the stage without consuming alcohol.

During an interview on the Behind The Prestige podcast, which gained popularity on Friday, the Soweto hitmaker acknowledged his dependence on alcohol before performances but noted that he is now making intentional efforts to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
He mentioned that he has stopped smoking for a while and is also striving to quit drinking.
Victony expressed his intention to perform without the influence of any substances, referring to it as a “big challenge” while adding that he now wants to truly connect with his fans.
He could be heard saying, “Staying fit is a new habit. I started two months ago, and it’s been good.
“I haven’t smoked in a while, I’m trying to stay off alcohol as well. I’m trying to do this tour sober and it’s a big challenge.
“For the longest, I have never been on stage without drinking but I’m trying to see my fans with my eyes, connect with them truly.”
Victony gained fame after his collaboration with Mayorkun on the hit “Holy Father”.
