Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, has declared the end of his prolonged political rift with suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking to journalists on Thursday night after a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Wike said the reconciliation was the outcome of a peace initiative brokered by President Bola Tinubu.

He noted that the President’s intervention created the platform for both parties to put aside their differences and commit to restoring political stability in Rivers State.

Speaking on the accord, former Governor, Wike stated, “We have all agreed to work together with the governor, and the governor has agreed to work with all of us. For me, everything is over.”

“We are members of the same political family. Yes, just like humans, there are disagreements, but there is always a time to settle them.

“That has been concluded today, and we have come to report to Mr President. For me, everything is over.”

He thereby enjoined political supporters to embrace the new atmosphere of unity, adding, “There’s no more acrimony. This is a day to thank Almighty God.”

Governor Fubara echoed this sentiment with optimism, saying, “What we need for progress in Rivers State is peace.

“By the special grace of God, with the help of Mr President and the agreement of our leaders, peace has returned.”

He pledged to uphold the fragile peace, stating, “We’ll do everything within our power to sustain it this time around.”
